The Christmas shopping season starts tomorrow with Black Friday and many local communities are pushing shop local. Kalona city Administrator Ryan Slabaugh says they are encouraging people to shop local with the kickoff of Christmas in Kalona celebration this weekend. He says they will be lighting up the downtown Friday evening with the new trees instead of their normal pole lighting. Slabaugh says even with the downtown revitalization project going on he says the downtown should look very nice for the kick off of the holiday shopping season.
