Iowa Supreme Court Justice Marsha Ternus will be speaking in Fairfield next week at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center. Rustin Lippincott with the center says she will be giving a speech entitled: The Courts and the Constitution which will address the constitutional role of the Iowa courts and the critical importance of a fair and importance judiciary. Ternus is one of the justices up for retention this year. Lippincott says Ternus is one of the Justices who have been criticized for their ruling on the same sex marriage law. He says they worked with the Jefferson County Bar Association to get her to come to Fairfield. He says as far as he knows this is the only presentation she is giving in South East Iowa. The presentation will be at 7:30pm next Monday October the 25th in the Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts. Ternus will be answering questions as well.
