Washington County Supervisors Select Payment Plan For Secondary Road Improvements
Posted: September 14, 2010 @ 6:30 am In Today's Local News
The Washington County Board of Supervisors is moving forward with a plan to assign costs for a major overall of the county’s secondary road system. The plan splits the county’s $8 million dollar share of the project, with 50% assigned to the Debt Services Levy paid by all residents, and the other half to the Rural Services Levy. Despite the 78% of the cost he and other rural residents would pay, Supervisor Jim Miksch told County Engineer David Patterson the amount is “not unreasonable” and both rural and city residents should pay their fair share. Patterson agreed, adding that he believes the 13% project cost assigned to city residents was “pretty representative of the [county road] usage” they represent. The board passed on two other plans that would have placed a higher percentage of responsibility on city residents.
