“Key Provisions” Of The Patient Protection And Affordable Care Act Are Now In Effect
Posted: September 24, 2010 @ 6:24 am In Today's Local News
Insurance companies can no longer cancel coverage if you become sick. Those and other provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act went into effect yesterday. Children can now stay on their parents insurance plans up to the age of 26, there is no lifetime limit on coverage, and patients will no longer be charged for out of network emergency care. Southeast Iowa Congressman Dave Loebsack says these and other reforms are “vital to all of the Iowans who now have better, stronger health care.” Loebsack says the changes “protect consumers by outlawing … abuses of the insurance industry.” For a full list of new healthcare regulations, visit healthcare.gov [1].
