The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves were suppose to begin the football season August 27th but it looks like they’ll get some extra practice. The Wolves were suppose to open with Van Buren but because of low numbers Van Buren will not play a varsity schedules this season, they’ll just play a JV schedule. WMU Head Coach Russ Buffington says instead of trying to find an opponent to fill the opening week void, they’ll use the extra time to make sure everything is in place. The last few season WMU has run a spread with an emphasis on throwing the football, he says this season they’ll move away from that and reduce the playbook with an aim of doing a few things really well.
