The city of What Cheer is the setting for a new book about love in Iowa. 7th generation Iowan Zachary Jack grew up in rural northwest Iowa, but says as a child he became fascinated with the city of What Cheer and its name when driving with his parents on I-80. Jack says the book is for young Iowans, a segment of the state’s population he says is leaving for the big cities, something he wants to change. Jack says he’s encountered former residents of What Cheer all over the state, and is using his book tour to hear theirs’ and others’ stories of love. “What Cheer: A Love Story” is available on Amazon.com.
