System For Secondary Road Repair Quotes Allows Lowest Price, Smaller Companies To Participate

Posted: July 28, 2010 @ 6:23 am In Today's Local News

The cost of secondary road patching projects in Washington County could be lower because of a system that allows smaller companies to submit quotes. County engineer David Patterson told the Washington County Board of Supervisors patching was split into A and B subgroups, and construction entities were asked to submit A, B, and combined quotes in order to get “the best price for the county”.  TEK Builders of Mt. Ayr will patch project A for $47,000, and project B was awarded to Cedar Falls Construction for $53,000. Patterson said he had a conservative estimate of $140,000 for the combined cost of both projects, and was happy with the “competitive quotes” the county had received.
