Funeral Services for 60 year old Ronald Lewis of Columbus Junction is at 10:30 Tuesday morning at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Visitation is Monday from 4 to 7pm at the the Funeral Home. Burial is at the Columbus City Cemetery. A memorial has been established at the Funeral Home.

Alice Goodwin

Celebration of Life Services for 89 year old Alice Goodwin of Kalona will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Kalona United Methodist Church.  Burial will be in the Wellman Public Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Friday from 2:00 to 7:00 with family present from 2 – 4 and from 5 – 7 at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.

Asbury United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School

Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman invites all children ages 3 through starting 6th grade to become space cadets at our summer space voyage Vacation Bible School: GALACTIC BLAST: A COSMIC ADVENTURE PRAISING GOD on July 26th through July 29 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each evening. A light meal will be served each evening. Come join us in our space adventure learning about the Creator of our Universe during our “Out of this World” week of VBS! Brinton Film Festival

Title: Brinton Film Festival
Description: The Brinton Film Festival will be showing at the Ainsworth Opera House on Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31st at 7:30 p.m. Some of the films that will be showing during the program date back to the 19th century and many of the films are exclusive to the Opera House. Hooverfest

Title: Hooverfest
Description: The annual celebration of Herbert Hoover’s birthday, “Hooverfest,” takes place on Saturday, August 7 from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. at the Herbert Hoover Presidential Historic Site in West Branch. There will be live entertainment, an arts and crafts fair, over one-hundred exhibits and food vendors, and a fireworks display that night. This year, firefighters and first responders will also be honored with the U.S. Flag Honor ceremony. For more information, call 319-643-5327.

Description: The United Methodist Church of Washington is holding a sale of many different items (today/tomorrow) on Saturday, August 6th from 2 to 7 p.m. and Sunday, August 7th from 8 a.m. until noon in the church basement in Washington. There will be a bake sale, and they will be selling kids clothes, furniture, tools, toys, games, books, and more. All proceeds go the Washington Area Life Fund.

Description: The Annual “Players 4 Payton” Slow-pitch Tournament is taking place on Saturday, August 7. The event is taking place at the Riverside ball fields at 7:30 a.m. The schedule of events for the rest of the day include “Kross Kountry” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., a HACAP food drive from 9 a.m. to noon, a Home Run Derby from 1 to 2 p.m. and a Kids Carnival from 1 to 4 p.m., featuring clowns at 2 p.m. Concessions will be open all day.
