Main Street Washington Event Approved For Alcohol, But Not In Park
Posted: July 14, 2010 @ 6:24 am In Today's Local News
The Washington City Council has approved an alcohol permit for August’s Main Street Washington Celebration, but won’t allow the organization to distribute alcohol in the city’s Central Park because of a city ordinance. Main Street Washington member Amy Vetter told the council last week that she believes the event would be a success with or without alcohol, but having a sectioned off area for alcohol consumption will help volunteers prevent outside drinking in cars around the square. A portion of Marion Ave behind the city’s band stand will be sectioned off for a beer garden during Main Street Washington’s celebration on Saturday, August 7th.
