On Saturday, Washington’s only community youth center is holding an open house and barbecue fundraiser to support its after-school programs and Fall Youth Conference. Hamakua Place Director Deb Bodensteiner says the open house features kids games and face painting at 3, a free-will pork loin dinner prepared by the A.M. Optimists from 4-6:30, and a rock concert at 7pm.  Bodensteiner says the event also gives the community a chance to meet members of a new counseling service operating in Hamakua Place.  The open house is free and takes place on Saturday from 3 to 7pm.  For more information, contact the Hamakua Place at 653-4700.
