Alliant Energy says it activated it’s Appliance Cycling Program to save energy during Wednesday’s 100 plus degree temperatures. A heat advisory was in effect as air conditioners south of I-80 were cycled on and off every 15 minutes.  The program is open to all Alliant customers, and participants are paid $8 each summer month, even if they’re power is not cycled.  Alliant also offers a cycling program for electric water heaters.
