Some people smoke all their lives and never get lung disease. Others never smoke and do develop a disease. Why does this happen? That’s the question a group of researchers from the University of Iowa is trying to answer. U of I Hospital Research Coordinator Kim Sprenger says they hope to look at whether certain people are genetically predisposed to develop lung disorders. She says they’re looking for current and former smokers between the ages of 45 and 80 to take part in the study. Sprenger says they’re having an informational meeting at the Washington Public Library June 9th from 6-8 PM.
