Speed Change Decision on East Washington Delayed
Posted: June 18, 2010 @ 6:23 am In Today's Local News
Yesterday the Washington City Council tabled and delayed a vote that would lead to an increased speed limit on East Washington on the way to Wal-Mart. City Clerk Illa Earnest says it’s technically a state road, and the city has been instructed by the state to allow the speed to be increased from 30 to 35 miles per hour. She says some council members are against the change because many residents don’t have alleyways and must back out onto the road. There is also a retirement home on East Washington. Earnest says the vote was delayed because not all council members were able to attend yesterday’s meeting.
