SE Iowa Farmers Make Headway on Replanting

After several weeks of wet conditions, southeast Iowa farmers were finally able to get back into the fields and focus on getting crops in the ground. The USDA says many producers last week reported re-planting due to seedling rot, crusted soil, and hail damage. There was just over four and a half days suitable for field work in southeast Iowa. The statewide average was just over five and half days. 87 percent of corn has emerged in this corner of the state, compared to the state’s 94 percent. 69 percent of soybeans have been planted in locally, with 38 percent emerged. The state has 91 percent of soybeans planted, with 62 percent emerged.
