Rain Affects Local Farmers

Washington has received about 11 inches of rain this month, and needs less than 2 ½ inches to break the June precipitation record set in 1930. Washington County Farm Bureau Regional Manager Jerry Anderson says the above average rainfall has been hard on Washington farmers, preventing many from spraying their fields for weeds.  Area farmer John Berdo says the rain has affected his hay and corn crops, adding that this year’s potential for his largest corn crop ever has been erased.  Berdo says he hopes to finish with just an average size crop.
