Grilling Safety Tips

The Iowa Department of Public Health says summer is often marked with an increase in food borne diseases. The IDPH’s data shows this is usually associated with summertime holidays, such as Memorial Day. The state agency says there are a few simple things that can be done to reduce the risk of food-borne illness. When grilling, it’s important to cook meat thoroughly, and make sure you have clean hands to prevent cross contamination. It’s also important to keep meat cold until it’s ready to be grilled and immediately refrigerate leftovers. For more information visit www.foodsafety.gov [1].
