Posted: April 26, 2010 @ 6:55 am In Today's Local News

A judge from Washington County could be appointed to the Iowa Court of Appeals this week. Michael Mullins is one of three finalists for the post. Also in the running is Assistant Attorney General Mary Tabor of Des Moines and Private Attorney Joel Greer of Marshalltown. Governor Chet Culver is expected to announce his decision Wednesday. The appeals court was created in 1976 to ease the Iowa Supreme Court’s caseload. It’s designed to have nine judges. They are appointed by the governor to one year terms from a list of three finalists selected by a judicial nominating committee.
