Private Pesticide Applicator Training

The last chance for farmers to attend private pesticide applicator training locally will be Thursday, April 15th at the Washington County Extension Office on the fairgrounds.  One session will be offered from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m.

Alvin R. Gingerich

Funeral services for 88 year old Alvin R. Gingerich of Kalona are tomorrow (4/3) morning at 10:00 at the Upper Deer Creek Mennonite Church. Burial will follow at the East Union Mennonite Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Iowa City Hospice and Pleasantview Home.

Spring, and General Economic Turnaround Expected to Bring Jobs

For the sixth time in the past eight months, Iowa’s Business Conditions Index rose above growth neutral.  The index, a leading economic indicator from a survey of supply managers, jumped to 63.5 from February’s 58.2 and January’s 52.1. Components of the overall index for March were new orders at 74.3, production or sales at 73.8, delivery lead time at 60.7, employment at 57.1, and inventories at 51.7.
