Southeast Iowa farmers are leading the charge this planting season. The latest statistics from the USDA show area producers have 30 percent of corn planted. Almost every day last week was suitable for field work in this corner of the state. Roughly 80 percent of both the subsoil and topsoil moisture was rated in the adequate range. The forecast calls for chances of rain throughout this week, with more significant precipitation this weekend.
