Washington County’s unemployment rate held steady at 6.8 percent last month, while the statewide average edged up slightly. Kerry Koonce, with Iowa Workforce Development, says the total number of working Iowan’s was actually up. Koonce says both Washington County and the statewide unemployment numbers appear favorable when compared to the national average of nearly 10-percent.
