Soil Compaction Expected to Cause Problems for Spring Planting

Soil compaction is expected to be a concern for farmers this spring. ISU Extension Ag Engineer Mark Hanna says the best thing producers can do, is be patient. Hanna says frost likely didn’t penetrate very deeply over the winter due to all the snow cover. He says trying to get soil loosened up with a piece of tillage equipment when things are wet likely won’t work well.
