A recent survey indicates Incumbent Democrat Chet Culver trails two members of the GOP in Iowa’s Governor’s race. A telephone survey conducted by Rasmussen Reports shows former Governor Terry Branstad leads Culver 53% to 37% among likely Iowa voters. Culver also trails Republican Bob Vander Plaats, a businessman who ran unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor in 2006, the year Culver was elected, 46% to 40%. On a personal basis, 14% of voters have a very favorable opinion of culver, while 27% found Brandstand very favorable.
