This is National FFA Week, and an area High School has nearly a third of their enrollment involved with agriculture focused program. Iowa Mennonite School has about 120 students and 43 of them participate in FFA projects and activities. IMS is also the only private school in Iowa to have an FFA chapter. FFA Advisor Marcia Kilgard says kids in the program are highly self motivated, and they have many hands on activities like making goat cheese and butter, producing chickens, visits to the Farmers Fresh Hen Houses, and trips to local creameries. Kilgard says IMS has seen growth in their FFA program over the last few years.
