It’s been almost a week since the Caribbean island nation of Haiti was devastated by an earthquake of historic proportions. Jennifer Pickar is with the American Red Cross Grant Wood area Chapter in Cedar Rapids. She says donations have been pouring in from all over eastern Iowa. Pickar says because Haiti is on an island, and because transportation networks were so heavily damaged in the quake, the best donation they can get is cash. Pickar says overall, Americans seem to have a good grasp of magnitude of the devastation. To find out more about how to make a donation, or to volunteer for the Red Cross visit Grant Wood hyphen Red Cross Dot Org.
