Mental Health Move Would Mean Higher Costs For Washington County Sherriff’s Office
Posted: December 16, 2009 @ 7:33 am In Today's Local News
The proposed closure of Mt. Pleasant’s mental health facility would create financial burdens for Washington County. Sheriff Jerry Dunbar says he would be looking at increased transportation and overtime costs if the services in Mt. Pleasant were moved to Independence. He says the amount of money Washington County Mental health can reimburse him is less than what the office has to pay deputies. Whether or not the facility in Mt. Pleasant closes is now up to the legislature.
