The Iowa State University Extension Service says the end of the year is a good time for a financial check up. Family Resource Management Specialist Phyllis Zalenski says it’s important to look at checking account statements and look at ways to cut spending. She says it’s also a good time to assess how your investments are performing. Zalenski recommends setting three attainable goals such as increasing savings, reducing spending and paying down debt.
