The majority leader in the Iowa House is optimistic about the state’s financial future. Kevin McCarthy says the Midwest has weathered the economic storm better than most other parts of the country. McCarthy points to Iowa’s relatively low unemployment rate and increases in housing starts and consumer spending. McCarthy spoke yesterday during a stop in Washington while on a tour of Southeast Iowa.
