The first major winter storm of the season is expected to hit Iowa next week. The State Department of Transportation’s forecasting service predicts up to two inches of snow statewide late Sunday with the possibility of significant snow accumulation Tuesday and Wednesday. DOT urges residents to check road conditions before leaving by calling 511, or logging on to the department’s website. They also ask people to remember the slogan “ice and snow, take it slow.”
