Frigid temperatures have many southeast Iowans donning a space heater to keep warm. Washington Fire Chief Tom Wide says it’s important to keep them away from flammable items and areas where they can be tipped over. Wide says for anyone with power out, it’s important not to run a generator indoors or try to heat a home using a gas stove.
