In the wake of last year’s flooding, Washington County is trying to take a proactive approach to hazard mitigation. County Engineer David Patterson says they want to have plans in place in case something similar happens in the future. Patterson says the multi jurisdictional plan will encompass the rural areas, and each city within the county. They are receiving around 30-thousand dollars from FEMA to implement the plan.
