Schmitz: State Budget Situation Close to Resolution

[1]State Senator Becky Schmitz (D-Fairfield)Fairfield Senator Becky Schmitz says tough economic times and difficult budget decisions will create a more fiscally responsible Iowa. The Fairfield democrat says most state agencies have submitted their plans to implement Gov. Culver’s 10 percent budget cuts, most of which have been approved. Schmitz says the state will have to set furlough days and leave vacant positions open in order to meet the budget.
