Like many funds invested in the stock market, Iowa’s Public Employees Retirement System faces an uncertain future. Some have suggested that workers might need to put in more time before retirement. Washington Police Chief Greg Goodman says that could be troublesome for law enforcement. He says if an officer was forced to stay on the job longer than they had anticipated, both physical and mental shortcomings could put them or their colleagues in danger.
