Washington County’s unemployment rate eased slightly last month from 5.1 to 4.9 percent. Kerry Koonce with Iowa Workforce Development says statewide numbers were fairly steady from August to September. Iowa and Washington County still stack up favorably against the nation as a whole. National unemployment edged up to 9.8 percent in September.
