Celebration of Life Service for 19 year old James Loren Vest III of Wellman is at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 8 at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday, October 7 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Wellman. A general memorial has been established.

Funeral services for 81 year old Rosemary Scully Elliot of Washington are at 10:30 am Wednesday, October 7 at St. James Catholic Church. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established to St. James and Washington County Hospital.

Read and Feed

The United Presbyterian Church’s Read and Feed book club will meet Thursday, October 15  at 11:45 am. Each member should choose a book to read and give a brief report about it. Make sure to bring your lunch.

Circle of Support

Turkey Supper

Richland United Methodist Church will hold a turkey supper Wednesday, October 14 from 5-7 pm. They’ll serve roast turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, dessert, and drinks in the fellowship hall. Carry-out is available. Call 319-456-2251 for more information.

Jazz Concert

The United Methodist Church in Washington will host Paul Asado, a world famous jazz musician, in concert Saturday, October 17 at 7:30 pm. Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for high school students and younger.
