Communities in Johnson County are being recognized by the Iowa Department of Public Health for helping keep residents fit and healthy. IDPH spokeswoman Polly Carver-Kim says the Healthy Communities Initiative allows the county to create programs that parents and children can do together to stay healthy. She says parents and children take fitness tests together, learn ways to increase nutrition, and stay physically active.
