Fewer Officers Result of Budget Cuts

[1]Iowa State Patrol Post 13 in Mt. PleasantGovernor Chet Culver’s across the board budget cuts could mean fewer officers on Iowa roadways. Department of Public Safety Spokeswoman Courtney Greene says there are 54 proposed layoffs. Greene says at this time, it’s difficult to say what that will mean for individual State Patrol districts. She says they also plan to save money by keeping motor vehicles longer and holding off on new equipment purchases.
