^[1]Red Brick School House

Two of Washington’s County’s country schools will be showcased during open houses this weekend. The county historical society’s Carlton Mangold says the Walnut and Red Brick Schools are two of nearly 150 such facilities that once operated in the area. The open houses run from 2-4 Sunday afternoon. The Redbrick School House is two miles south of Washington on W47 and W55. The Walnut School is six miles south of Washington on Highway 1.
